Average review score:

An absolutely first-rate book in Behavioral Medicine.
This book covers a great deal of interest and practical value in the areas of Health, Medicine, and Psychology and how they interact. The sections have been written by well-respected experts in their fields. The book is organized in a way that makes it easy to use without resorting to the index. The writing is clear.

There is an introductory section with a brief review of psychological topics that are useful in understanding the remainder of the book and how psychology is applied to medicine.

There is another section dealing with the psychological aspects of health and illness.

The next section concerns itself with psychological assessment and intervention.

Following that is a section on professional health practice.

The final section is a compendium of scores of diseases and disorders discussed in the light of the interaction between psychology and medicine.

This book would be a fine addition to the library of anyone interested in the interplay between mind and medicine, and is a very useful resource.

Canadian West Gift Set
Published in Paperback by Word Publishing (February, 1987)
Author: Janette Oke
Average review score:

The most captivating series I have ever read!
Once I started reading the books in this series I was captured. The trials and triumps of Elizabeth and Wynn Delaney are so down to earth and real that I actually felt that I was Elizabeth. I could feel the pain of being childless right along with her. These stories constantly reminded me of Gods love and guidence in all situations of Life. I have read all the books in this series twice and I am passing them on to my own daughters. They are great role models for young girls and women today.

Could not put down!
I just love EVERYTHING that Janette Oke's writes. Sometimes I just find myself sitting for hours reading her books. I NEVER tire of them. I wish that she had a "fan club". I do not know of how to find out if she does - I just can not get enough of all of her books! I want to collect everything that she has written.

J. Oke's fan,

Heidi

The Case of the Fiddle Playing Fox (Hank the Cowdog 12)

The Case of the Fiddle Playing Fox
All of John's books are funny and cute. In this book a foxhypnotizes the chickens and makes them dance on the floor. While hedoes that he sneaks over and eats the eggs. The next day Sally May is mad because she did not get her 12 eggs. You should read this book sometime and find out what else happens. END

Fabulous fiddling fox causes Hank problems
As usual, Hank is up against an unusual problem. The fox is in the hen house, but he's been INVITED!! The rooster, Drover and Hank are all suspicious about music in the night, but no one seems to be able to stay awake to find out what it is...

I thought that this was a wonderful book. Actually, we heard it on tape, which is many times better than the book form. The author gives each character their own voice and personalities, and sings his songs as they are meant to be heard. These tapes are great for long car rides, rainy days, and just about any other kind of day in between. I HIGHLY recommend these children AND adults.

The best book I read is Hank the cowdog!
One of my favorite books I have read in the past year was Hank the Cowdog by John R.Erickson. It is A marvelous book about Hank tries to fall in love with another dog he met. One of the major reasons I in joyed this book is because Hank and Drover stays ahead of the ranch security so nothing wouldn't happen to the farm or the chickens, but they decide that its time for A break from the ranch security. Another reason I found in the book to be so wonderful Hank and Drover goes out into the woods and they see four yellow eyes in the dark it was Rip and Snort. They were brothers but Rip and Snort didn't remember Hank and Drover, but Hank told them about the pit where they had parties and got drunk. Then Snort and Rip mumbled about it. Then they thought they would go we eat Hunk later and Drover for snacks then Hank said member what I told you about that don't eat friends that is bad manners. Then snort said, "Oh," but Drover ran off. when Rip seen the silage pit he ran but not snort; he stayed behind Hank. Then Hank said, "That was my chance to escape." To conclude Hank the Cowdog by John R.Erickson was truly my favorite book

Hank the Cowdog 36
Hank 36 is a very good book.I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE!

The best Hank yet???
I have purchased approximately 12-14 Hank the Cowdog Audio Tapes/CDs for...ahem...the kids. Yeah, totally for the kids. Anyway, this one is my favorite. If you are considering any Hank Audio Books, this should be your first.

We hear of Hank and Drover's adventures battling the terrible green Charlie Monsters and what happens when they come face to face with the most dreadful of realities...trapped in Sally May's KITCHEN.

All the Hank audio books have classic lines that our family is often repeating (while laughing hysterically), but this one has some of the best:
"I don't want to be a cat"
"You STOLE my BACON!"
"That will be 15 Shame-On-You's Drover"
etc.

Buy it...you'll thank me!

Sheila McCarn
We have listened to this audio book several times. The first time we heard it was driving in the car and I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard I was afraid we'd have a wreck. Hank is not just for kids.

Catch Fish Now: On Florida's West Coast
Published in Paperback by Pineapple Pr (August, 1998)
Author: Mike Babbidge
Average review score:

Very good information
This book is packed with information. This is not a book to learn how to fish. It is written to tell you WHERE to fish. It also tells you what types of fish to expect at different times of the year. I noticed a few places I wasn't aware of, right in my own town. I can't wait to try them out.

Great Info for West Coast Anglers
Being a second generation Floridian I do know a little about fishing. This book is correct on several of the spots I know of leading me to believe that the rest of the book is accurate. Everything you need is covered here, including a monthly chart on what you are most likely to catch in different areas. If you are serious about catching fish, this is the book.

Caution, Men in Trees
Published in Hardcover by University of Georgia Press (March, 2000)
Author: Darrell Spencer
Average review score:

Punchy
The best word I can think of to describe this writing is punchy. Spencer artfully packs so much into quick and lovely sentences. His stories evoked much thought for me about his characters. I wasn't always sure I liked them (the characters), but they were always real. I'd definitely recommend this book.

A writer who deserves more fame
No one writes with more pathos about modern life than Darrell Spencer. His characters are brave but muddled, and the troubles about which they must be brave are generally too absurd (the sign painter whose employee misspells "entertainment" and provokes a cranky Las Vegas mob boss, or the ex-Mormon jogger whose devout neighbor wants to pray for his hamstring in the temple) to find much comfort--or nobility--in their lives. What's remarkable about Spencer, though, is that he finds nobility in the mundane, mostly by giving voice to the perplexed Mormons (and faithless but still looking-for-faith Mormons), puzzled husbands, fabric store clerks, trailer park host, and deaf people who suffer, joke, and survive in these stories. If you like short stories, you absolutely must read "Late-Night TV" and "It's a Lot Scarier if You Take Jesus Out."

A great guide to the Northwest
As a resident of Washington state who enjoys the natural beauty of the area, I found this book to be a most helpful and inspiring guide. The authors are knowledgable about the natural history of the region, and the text is accompanied by many beautiful photographs. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone planning to visit the area for the first time, or to residents of the Northwest who want to learn more about the natural bounty that their region has to offer.

The best guide to natural areas in the Northwest
As a resident of Washington state who loves the natural beauty of the region, I've found this to be the most helpful, informative and nicely illustrated guide to the natural areas of Washington and Oregon. The book is well written, with beautiful photographs, and has not only inspired me to visit a lot of new places but has enriched my experience of those places I was already familiar with. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone planning on visiting the Northwest --- and especially to those already living here!
